Sydney – Part 4

With Just a couple of days left to go in our Whirlwind Antipodean Tour we decided to go where everyone should go at least once in their lives (if not many, many times!), to Taronga Zoo.

We took a slightly circuitous route to get there though, going via Manly (back on the ferry) to dump our bags with the relos before heading out. And a grand day we picked for it too!

Christchurch – Part 5

As we were saying out final farewells, it was a time to drive around and remind ourselves that though Christchurch has come a long way in the three years since the big quake, there is still so much to do.

This is what’s left of the Cathedral in Cathedral Square. Still fenced off from the public.

But there has been beauty to be found as well. Would you like to know more?

New Zealand – Christchurch

We’ve been on a trip! From where we are now, it was a long trip. It is quite the odd experience to sit on a plane and watch the days collapse into each other, as you sit there for a night, a day, another night, and most of the next day …

Five security check in 36 hours. It was a little draining. We arrived to see the best the Christchurch could offer us! Would you like to know more?

Handwerkbeurs Zwolle

A small group of us got together again this year to head out East to Zwolle and the Handwerkbeurs! This was a much anticipated, and yet slightly scary prospect given how much opportunity there is to fall under the spell of some magical yarn!

I must admit that I had been looking forward to going back to this Hand Craft Fair since I was introduced to it last year! Would you like to know more?

Pannenkoeken and Poffertjes

Or; Pancakes and … mini pancakes. I guess. *shrugs*

Himself and I have finally been to a Dutch Pancake House, and it only took having visitors from Tokyo coming to stay with us to get us there. I’m pegging that on the fact that three of the visitors were kinderen. In fact, as it turned out, we made it to two in as many days! I was a bit pancaked out after that!

But I’m here to tell you about how wonderful they were! Not to mention filling! The first such stop was in Zaanse Schans where we took our lunch break on Friday. Being lunch I opted for a savoury bacon and cheese topped pancake. Not too bad if I do say so myself! But the real treat was the promised pancake breakfast we scheduled for Saturday morning. We chose to go here, the Vier Pillaren. (Four Pillars)
