2018 in Review

As I often do at this time of year, I take some time to go back through all the photos I have taken and assess everything I’ve done and achieved. On a daily basis it can feel like I haven’t done much, or I’m just treading water. But the overview shows my just how full my life really is. Some of these pictures you may have seen before, I ask for your patience!

January – was full of making. I got back into my love affair with miniatures by putting together a tiny library that James bought me, and then played with water colours using the new paints I’d received for Christmas. There was a trip with a friend to the Rijksmuseum, and on a separate trip to the Maritime Museum. We also went to our first concert of the year; Depeche Mode!

:taptaptap: Is this thing on?

Wow hey? :looks around and sees the date of my last post: Whoops…

It has been brought to my attention that though most of my social media interaction has moved to Instagram and Twitter, and then re-posted on Facebook, there are some wonderful people out there who only read and therefore miss these blog updates. So let me catch you up a bit!

Rottnest and the Quokkas

When I were a wee lass… just a few short years ago… I had a friend named Weapon, who told me stories of the Quokkas on Rottnest Island. I wasn’t going to be in his home town, and not go and see the quokkas. Poor Himself didn’t have a chance.

Other than wanting to go, this side excursion was mostly unplanned. So it was off to the concierge asking him to wield his magic for us! (I love a good concierge! They can do anything!) Would you like to know more?

Perth

Himself and I always wanted to go to Perth. It has been on our wishlist for many years, but we never quite managed to make it while still living in the country. So when I received a message from a friend that she was getting married, and it was in Perth, there was no way I wasn’t going to be there!

Why not travel around the world to see something you’ve never seen before?! We decided on balance that spending a week in Perth would be best. Achieve as much off our “want” list as possible. Would you like to know more?

A town no longer my own

It is strange going back to Sydney now. It was once a huge part of me… But that Sydney has moved on without me, and it is no longer the city that I knew or was a part of. When I walk around now, I am a tourist. But I try my best to not be *that* kind of tourist!

I look back over the photos I’ve taken on this trip, and I realise that the pictures I take in Sydney are the equivalent of the photos I took five years ago when I got to Amsterdam. Would you like to know more?
