Brussels, Belgium – Part 2

The Grand Place or Grote Markt in Dutch/Flemish is the central square of Brussels. It is surrounded by truly opulent buildings, one of which houses the Museum of the City of Brussels. The square itself is UNESCO World Heritage Listed.

Similar to Dam Square in Amsterdam it is a nexus point for all sorts of sight seeing tours of the city. Would you like to know more?

Brussels, Belgium – Part 1

Brussels is the capital city of Belgium and home to the headquarters of the European Union also. Now, Himself and I had stopped in to Brussels once before on La Duchessa, but it’s hard to walk around and see all the things you want to see when you’re in full motorbike armour!

We knew we wanted to do some justice to Brussels, as it has so much to offer. So went back for a whole weekend in order to see some of the things we had just glimpsed from the back of the bike. Would you like to know more?

Inside the Nitrate Vaults

If you go out into the middle of the woods, and over a hill, and around a corner, you will find a gate.

Beyond it there lies a vault. Now this vault was originally built as an art vault in order to hide the art from the Rijksmuseum from the Nazis. Would you like to know more?

Köln

We have a motorbike. We live on Continental Europe. It is Summer. We have access to Autobahns. All of this must reach only one conclusion. We leather up, straddle the beast, and head East! Before we leave the Netherlands though, I’d like to draw your attention to not only how flat the Netherlands is, but how there is enough water that they don’t bother with fencing in the fields. They just dig more canals.

Italy, Rome – Part 5

We had a good long chat, those Roman Goldfishies and I. They quite enjoy life in a reflecting pool. Gives them ample opportunity to ruminate on the great philosophical questions of life. Things like; “what pizza topping should I have for lunch?”

But there were ancient ruins to see, so eventually I moved on, just in a calmer and more serene state of mind. Pizza topping of choice was parma ham with mushrooms. Would you like to know more?
