Jurassic Lounge

Just like so many other people, we went to the final Jurassic Lounge of 2011. Those of you with keen eyesight and memories will remember that we went to the first one way back in February.

Though I must say, going by the volume of people that turned up, I think they’d be silly not to run it again! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the museum so full! Sections of it when there’s a specific exhibition on yes, but the was packed all night! HOORAY for the Australian Museum!

Photobucket

Just for a change of pace from our usual route through the museum (beginning down and heading up), with tickets purchased and complimentary drinks acquired, we headed on up to the Dinosaur exhibit. I was determined this time to work my way down through the Museum for a change!

Photobucket

As much as I really got into wandering around the Museum with the glass of wine in my hand, it did somewhat inhibit picture taking when you need both hands to be steady because of the low light! But I managed to work around it! *smiles *

Photobucket

Scores of people!

Photobucket

You might remember Ripley from the February post linked to above …

Photobucket

It really is amazing the art that can be created on the wall with a projector and some dirty glass dishes!

Photobucket

*tries not to make a Monty Python reference *

Photobucket

For those in the know, this was originally where Himself and I were planning on holding our Wedding Reception. In the Bone Room! Is that not a spectacular idea?!? Dinner amongst the bones!!!

Photobucket

At this Jurassic Lounge though, the bone room was the karaoke room.

Photobucket

I have a few more photos that I would like to share with you from this trip, but those can wait for now. Hi-Ho Silver, AWAY!

Photobucket

Until next time, keep adventuring!

Art After Hours

Art After Hours is one of my favourite things to do on a Wednesday night.

Photobucket

We went last week for the first time in months so that we could see the Mad Square Exhibition which is on until November 6th.

Photobucket

The Gallery always puts on a spectacular exhibition, and this was no exception. Taking you through the artistic movement from it’s inception through to the conclusion I found a new appreciation for this era of German art. It was the first time I’ve truly understood an appreciated Kandinsky!

There were no photos allowed in that particular exhibition. But there were no limits in the rest of the gallery (so long as you didn’t use flash).

Photobucket

I thought I might take a moment to share with you a new find

Photobucket

Photobucket

And some of my old favourites!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Art After Hours is on every Wednesday night from 5pm (normal closing time) to 9pm, and well worth the look in. Take some time to browse the weekly program to find out what’s on.

(I’ve just realised Flacco is on tonight!!! *has a fan-girl moment*)

The Unexpected Adventure

I make many suggestions. Probably more than your average human. So when Himself surprises me and takes me up on one we end up with an unexpected Adventure to the Aquarium!

There is always something new and fresh to see, or animals that weren’t moving are.

There were big things,

Photobucket

and small things.

Photobucket

Aren’t sea dragons one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen?

Photobucket

Spot the stonefish!
Photobucket

And his three deadly mates.

Photobucket

Don’cha just love wobbegongs?

Photobucket

And I’m not sure if I missed it before or if it’s new, but having recently been there, I loved the Barrier Reef exhibit! It was very special to be able to say I’ve seen them in the wild

Photobucket

And today, a first for this blog. Just for you we have … moving picutres!!! First a cow …

And second, another deadly one, the scorpion fish!

Who was trying to evade my camera! Oh well.

Until next time, keep Adventuring!

Fudge and Frittatas

I got it into my head to cook something new and exciting the other night. I made fudge first because … I felt like it. I used this espresso fudge recipe because it looked fairly fool proof.

It was. So much so that I managed to forget to take any photos of me making it.

Finished, it looks like this

Photobucket

and it tastes delicious!

I had also been staring at this spinach bacon and brie mini frittata recipe for a few days and thought it would be a delicious addition to my work day lunch box. Full of protein to get me through the afternoon.

So I gathered together my ingredients

Photobucket

Chopped everything up

Photobucket

And began putting it together

Photobucket

I was impressed with just how quickly and simply it all went together! Though those of you with much experience cooking will spot my fatal flaw in this picture.

Photobucket

Once cooked, they looked and tasted delicious! I have plans to make them in future substituting the bacon for smoked salmon, which I think will also work remarkably well.

Photobucket

So did you spot my flaw?

That’s right. Baking powder. Baking powder was my undoing. You see (for those that don’t know), I filled each compartment to the top and had 3 empty. But baking powder makes things rise.

Photobucket

Yes. I spent the next day cleaning the oven.

Rookie mistake *shakes head*

A Story

The Gathering

With the blossoms blooming on the trees, the new year has begun. It is time for the Gnomes to come together once more.

They gather at the toadstool.

Photobucket

Arriving together,

Photobucket

And separately.

Photobucket

They dance Ring Around the Toadstool,

Photobucket

And all fall down.

Photobucket

Then they travel,

Photobucket

To the Great Pukeko,

Photobucket

For story time.

Photobucket

Back at the toadstool elections are held,

Photobucket

And a leader is chosen for the coming year.

Photobucket

At the end of the day they head back home to their families.
