Shenanigans!

Himself and I have been up to so much! There was some Giftmas shopping, a Halloween party, dumplings for lunch, a trip to Haarlem, and a Swedish Fair! In amongst all of that, we also went to de kermis, which was back visiting the Dam again!

Being that we were entirely well for this visit, unlike the last time, we got a little more adventurous than the ferris wheel. We went on the swing chairs!

And if you think that sounds lame, let me just give you some perspective on how high up we were … Would you like to know more?

Today’s Table – Winter Woolies

Today’s Table – Winter Woolies

Hello all of my lovely readers out there in blog-land! You’d never guess the seasons were changing, but there has been a decided nip in the wind since our return from the United Kingdom!

The shawl I took with me on the trip (scroll to the bottom) has been dismantled. I decided that what it actually needed was beads, and would need to be started again from scratch to add them in. Of course, the beads I bought were too small for my crochet hook … it’s been an on going saga ever since. I’ll keep you up to date when there’s actually progress on that front, shall I?

But I still needed something warm and squishy and sparkly to wrap around my neck! I was fixated by this point! I guess it was a good thing that the local yarn store was having a big birthday sale where I could buy some discounted Kidsilk Eclipse! Soft, squishy, and sparkly! No beads required!

Without much effort I was cast on …

Kazimir Malevich at the Stedelijk

I have a friend who is a Soviet-ologist (yes, really), and this year is Netherlands-Russia year! Celebrating 400 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. (This may or may not be going well at the moment.)

As part of these festivities, I have been to a film festival and seen Oktyabr (1928) with amazing accompaniment by organist Joost Langeveld. Two and a half hours of intense Russian documentary about the rise of communism. But this weekend, Himself was able to join us and we headed out to the opening day of the Kazimir Malevich Exhibition on at the Stedelijk Museum.

This was the largest exhibition in twenty years to be devoted to Malevich and his work. Would you like to know more?

London – Part 10

Ladies and Gentlemen, the ticket I bought on Platform 9 ¾ didn’t get me to Hogwarts, but I did get there.

I took myself and our Dear Hostess off for a tour of the Leavesdon Studios. Partly in thanks for her hospitality, and partly because I’m a massive fan girl. I’m at peace with this information. Would you like to know more?

London – Part 9

I am going to begin the end tale by ramping up slowly for you, as the day itself began quite slowly. Well, it did for me. Himself was off on his Conference and out the door early again. I woke up, and lolled for a while. Met the new boyfriend of the Hostess. Did some knitting … It’s me. I’m exciting.

But as the morning warmed up and the sun shone down upon us, we took action and headed for the Regents Park with some pieces of bread in a plastic bag. We were on a mission.

A thoroughly successful one if I do say so myself! Would you like to know more?
