Time in the Park

One of my favourite pass times is picnics in the park. Large expanses of grass, big trees providing shade from the glaring sunshine, and lazy relaxation time with friends. An extension of this is Teddy Bears Picnics; with a loose definition of “teddy bear”!

(This year along with Titan the chihuahua, We had a pukeko and an elephant.)

Being Summer, we headed for the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens on the harbour for a piece of grass to spread out on for a few hours. We parked under an enormous fig tree (is there any other kind?) for protection and made ourselves comfortable with our cameras.

There were lots of people around, all doing their own version of nothing.

We did a little juggling and poi swinging,

some wild animal photography,

and personally I worked on a sock.

When was the last time you took time out to do your own brand of nothing in the great outdoors?

Unexpected Sundays

I love unexpected Sundays! 😀 We walked down Parramatta Road and experienced unexpected things! (Lots of phone pics today, wish I’d taken a better camera!)

We’ll begin with one of my favourite and most dilapidated buildings.

Moving on to a cool poster we found for a local hair salon.

Moving on to some interesting discoveries in a newly expanded second hand shop I think these photos speak for themselves …

Fair Day!

Not your usual day trip to the park!

I always look forward to Fair Day. It’s so much fun! There’s so much to see and do, and so many friends to catch up with.

It’s difficult to convey even in photos, just how many thousands of people participate, how diverse the crowd is, and how much love is shared in Victoria Park on Fair Day.

Families of all types are present and welcomed.

I look forward to it every year! (And the after sun balm is on ice for when I get home!)

Not my best day photographically, but I made a bad choice early as to which lens I was going to use for the day. *shrugs* I worked with it 🙂

Well hello again!

My name is George and it has been two weeks since my last post.

In the last two weeks *heads off to look at diary* Himself and I have up to all sorts of shenanigans! There was a cocktail party celebrating Chinese New Year, there were guests who we had the absolute pleasure of showing around some local markets, there has been more sampling of exquisite local fare, there was a surprise trip to Campbelltown, there was mitten knitting (my first colourwork!), lots of future event planning, bookdepository.co.uk, and the continuation of the exercise regime.

I have been slack. Only one of these things has produced photos.

Look at my beautiful almost a mitten! *has an immense proud*

Photobucket

The exercise regime has also resulted in shin splints. Incredibly, and sometimes debilitatingly, painful. I missed my opportunity this morning to grab you all a photo with me at the physio with acupuncture needles sticking out of my shins. I’m sure you’re all devastated. I have been ordered to not run, or walk home again, until at least Monday and will be heading back to the physio on Friday for further rehabilitation. Yay! Fun times!

I have yarn on it’s way for me to be able to finally finish the knee high socks I began before Xmas. Due to my cashlessness, and an ordering snafu it’s taken a little while, but we appear to have gotten there in the end. So soon you shall have a fashion show starring these …

Photobucket

… but they’ll be finished. *grins*

Let’s all catch up again soon now, y’hear?!

Not entirely expected!

Such a weekend you never did see! Well, I did, and you might have, if all of your circumstances came together like ours did! You know when you see a stuffed life sized tiger in a white hearse that you’re in for something a little different!

Photobucket

We had an Adventure all planned out, and at the last minute decided that this really may not be the perfect weekend for that particular Adventure. The weather was not cooperating with us.

So we decided to go play tourist instead by purchasing some tickets to the Sydney Aquarium with some left over holiday money we had.

We got there about lunch time, and there were queues, and we were dispirited, so we decided to find food, re-group, and come up with a new plan. We re-grouped here;

Photobucket

Such a steak you never did eat before! So tender, so juicy, so LARGE!

Three hours later, the queues to get into the Aquarium had mysteriously vanished, so we thought we’d try our luck!

We saw Dory

Photobucket

and Marlin

Photobucket

and Pony-Boy

Photobucket

and Bruce’s cousins …

Photobucket

And a MERMAID!

Photobucket

*cough* I mean, Dugong of course!

Photobucket

Such an amazing day! We had so much fun! We’ll definitely be going back!

Now don’t forget the Raffle to raise money for the QLD flood relief is still going but ends next Monday, 24th, at 9am. If you have yet to enter Just head to this post and follow the directions. The clean up efforts are just monumental, and every little bit helps.
