Time away

Sometimes it’s nice to just take a break and get away from it all. I went here

And stayed here

I came back feeling refreshed and re-energised.

End of a week

I’m escaping this weekend. I need some time off, some time to myself, some time to study. I booked myself in to a really pretty, and by all accounts well regarded B&B. There will be pictures next week.

Until that time I have some pictures of Summer hanging on.

Everyone seemed to be out with family and friends enjoying the heat.

I really want to do something to help both Japan and New Zealand in this time of need. I know I jumped in and helped Queensland. I am coming up with a plan, which may solidify over the weekend. I have donated, and will continue to give what I can. It’s just so immense …

Wednesday already?

How do these things happen? The weekend was a big one which began with dinner out with friends, Saturday I was helping out my Mum, followed by dinner at our favourite restaurant, Sunday was a family luncheon with some out of town relatives, Monday I struggled through at work not feeling very well, and yesterday I received a delivery in the mail which I had been waiting for from Home of Poi.

Tonight we are out to the theatre, Thursday we have guests, Friday is out with friends again, and Sunday is the Niece’s ninth birthday party (nearly double digits!!!).

In between all of that we’ve had a broken washing machine (3 repairman visits and finally a new motor), and my Dad was in hospital for a few days after he decided life was a little boring and needed some spicing up! He’s home and safe now, and appreciated the flowers I sent him. There has also of course been sock knitting progress.

So, all in all, I don’t have any photos for you at the moment, I’ve been a bit busy to upload them. But they are on the way!

Just … let me take a little nap first …

Time in the Park

One of my favourite pass times is picnics in the park. Large expanses of grass, big trees providing shade from the glaring sunshine, and lazy relaxation time with friends. An extension of this is Teddy Bears Picnics; with a loose definition of “teddy bear”!

(This year along with Titan the chihuahua, We had a pukeko and an elephant.)

Being Summer, we headed for the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens on the harbour for a piece of grass to spread out on for a few hours. We parked under an enormous fig tree (is there any other kind?) for protection and made ourselves comfortable with our cameras.

There were lots of people around, all doing their own version of nothing.

We did a little juggling and poi swinging,

When was the last time you took time out to do your own brand of nothing in the great outdoors?

Christchurch

For those of you asking, and those of you unaware; all of Himself’s family (and a good number of our friends) are in Christchurch.

We have been extremely lucky in that everyone we contacted has been ok. Via SMS and facebook everyone has checked in and if needed moved to safer accommodation.

We know of a couple of homes in the path of the quake, at least one needs to be demolished, and one foundation is cracked.

The safer accommodation where most of our loved ones are, had power restored last night.

All in all we got off lightly.

For the most up to date information I am following the live feeds on stuff.co.nz and TVNZ.co.nz .

If you feel moved to donate there have already been a number of scams identified, so please be aware, and only donate via reputable sources like the Red Cross. In Australia go here – Red Cross
