Love where you live
There are many things I love about where we live.
We are lucky enough to be surrounded by a multitude of some of the best cafe’s in Sydney. Whether you’re looking for a good coffee, tea, chai, or just an all day breakfast on the weekend, there’ll be something to suit your tastes.
It’s a creative community. You don’t have to look hard to find places where the local colour shines through.
But, would you like to know one of the many things I love about where I live right now?
The magnolias are in bloom.

Start a new blog and then life takes over and you’re unable to work on it! But it’s ok, I’m back. I also have tales of my travels to regale you with!
I went exploring in my local neighbourhood yesterday. There is so much to see and do here.
The Orange Grove Markets were a flurry of excitement and a blur of colour. So much to see, so many beautiful things to buy.
They are an organic farmers market where all the local growers come to sell their wears, but over time have grown to be so much more!
I would happily have bought a selection of these hand-made bowls.
There’s a thriving cottage industry.
These cards were sculptural and architectural wonders!
And the orchids were calling to me, asking to come home with me.
Little do they know how little luck I have keeping plants alive! If they did they may not have been so eager to come and live at my house!
Expedition
This morning I headed up the street to two of my favourite shops.
Beginning at Herbies; I bought a small jar of cloves for some planned gluhwein (I love winter!), and found a pre-mixed packet of “Itallian Herbs” which I bought to inspire me later in the week.
Herbies makes the often intimidating world of spices not just approachable, but easy. They have an immense selection of individual spices for when you know what you want; and their pre-mixed packets that assist when you know what you want, but not how to get there, or if you’re just after a new taste sensation and don’t know where to begin. Then there’s the gift packs!
After tearing ourselves away from the heady scent from the large vase of cinnamon quills by the door, we wandered up the road to The Essential Ingredient.
Your one stop shop for anything you need in the kitchen.
Walking through this store reminds me of my childhood. Growing up with someone who loves to cook, instilled in me a fascination, and respect for the magic that can occur at the hands of a master chef.
The have so many wonderful tools, implements, and gadgets! I’m sure I could find a use for them all in my kitchen!
And did I mention they also carry ingredients?
I may not have been entirely successful in keeping my wallet ensconced in the depths of my bag!
