We had a treat this weekend! Himself placed in an art competition at our favourite café, and won (which he was kind enough to take me to) a tasting and glass of wine for two people at the Wine Bar – Screaming Beans.
Well! Where to even begin?!? I’ll start by saying that everything we had was amazing, subtle, delicate, and yet rich and satisfying. We allowed the kitchen to choose our meal for us, because it’s always fun to put yourself in the hands of the professionals!
The only requests we made were that I prefer white wine, Himself prefers red, and no mushrooms for Himself. Everything else was open to the chef. We had our wine selected for us, and then began with a creamy seafood bisque (front), on to a tartare (top left), before the pièce de rèsistance; the salmon dish (top right)! Melt in the mouth! The flavours melded together in perfect unison on your tongue!
Of course we were enjoying ourselves so much that we proceeded to order second glasses of wine each, and then main meals! Himself went with the codfish …
… and I went for the risotto with Canadian lobster.
To die for! In fact I think at one point I may have died and gone to heaven!
I would highly recommend Screaming Beans to anyone who is looking for either an elegant and intimate night out, or simply the best cup of coffee in Amsterdam!

There is another yes! And we always try to take any guests to one or both. The Wine Bar venue is closer to home, so from memory you only made it to the Negen Straatjes venue as we were being tourists 🙂 Next time!!!

That food looks and sounds amazing!
It is one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam! And he is pretty good, if I do say so myself 😉 I think I’ll keep him!
