Solstice was on Saturday, which means two things around here. The first is that the days will begin getting longer from here on out (yay). The second is that Winter has finally begun, so you’d never know the days are getting longer because it’s so overcast. Longest darkest day of the year suddenly makes sense of all the lights, doesn’t it?
And you know, the Christmas tram …
Its not a patch on the Sydney buses!
But better than all of that is that is that today is Giftmas Eve. So I did some baking. Fudge, Hot Buttered Rum mix, and ginger bread is on the way.
I’m out of practice with the fudge. Either that or Dutch ingredients are different to Australian ones, and it stuffed up my chemistry.
There’s been some frantic knitting to get things finished…
… and some relaxing with gluhwein (we found some!)
But most importantly we are now ready for a few days away from the rest of the world in order to spend quality time with family and friends who mean so much to us…
… even if some of them are on the other side of the world, and we’ll be seeing them on a monitor.
Be safe, be happy, be well. From our family to yours, have a Merry Christmas, and we’ll see you again in the New Year!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, too. Hoping the fudge turned out well in the end and that you have a very merry, festive and happy holiday celebration!

My carousel horse was a new addition to the tree this year! I love it to pieces! 😀

I also like your Holly Hobbie recipe book. That’s a nice bit of nostalgia!
Happy Holidays!
Thank you! The cats think they are cute too! 😉
That recipe book has in it the hand-written-by-me-secret-family-recipe for my xmas fudge! I think I wrote it out when I was eleven! Wouldn’t be xmas without traditions 🙂
Merry Christmas to you too Alison!
