Ghoti Travels Pt4

Yes we did it. We snorkeled on the outer Great Barrier Reef. Not only that, we did it on a day with a severe wind warning! Choppy doesn’t begin to describe the trip back! But the trip out was akin to the Manly Ferry going through the heads.

We went with Quicksilver to the Agincourt Reef, and I can’t recommend them highly enough!

As you step in the water is teeming with fish. Even on the steps off the pontoon!

Himself has an underwater camera, and mine was underwater equipped for the expedition.

What with the severe wind warning, the water was choppier than expected when you were out swimming in it!

Photobucket

But there was so much to see!

Photobucket

We only got out of the water long enough to eat lunch in the middle of the day, and while that settled did the tour on the semi-submersible. Only on that boat did we see a shark or sea turtle.

Before you knew it the horns were sounding to drag everyone in from the water to take the hour and a half long journey back to dock. But there was time to get submerged in one last fish feeding frenzy!

Just one more entry to come in the tales of our adventure!

In which the Ghoti travels Pt1

Adventures are always more fun with Himself involved, and he out did himself with the organisation of this one! As usual for us we both over estimated how much we could fit into each day and packed way too much. Both in clothing and activities! Oh why oh why are there only 24 hours in a day? And why do I need to sleep?

But just for you (or maybe me) I have taken notes, and photos in order to recreate it all for you!

First there was a plane.

Photobucket

With the obligatory B movie reference.

Photobucket

And we flew North to the land of sun and sand.

Photobucket

In our first hotel we had this view. (Tough to take, I know.)

Photobucket

I never quite got over how the beach just goes on forever into the horizon.

Photobucket

The first theme park we went to was Seaworld. Where we went on rides,

Photobucket

spent a lot of time taking photos of sharks both over water

Photobucket

and from underwater.

Photobucket

And possibly not quite successfully resisting

Photobucket

buying toys. (Though this one still isn’t at his forever home …)

Photobucket

There is still much more to come, so stay tuned!

Not entirely expected!

Such a weekend you never did see! Well, I did, and you might have, if all of your circumstances came together like ours did! You know when you see a stuffed life sized tiger in a white hearse that you’re in for something a little different!

Photobucket

We had an Adventure all planned out, and at the last minute decided that this really may not be the perfect weekend for that particular Adventure. The weather was not cooperating with us.

So we decided to go play tourist instead by purchasing some tickets to the Sydney Aquarium with some left over holiday money we had.

We got there about lunch time, and there were queues, and we were dispirited, so we decided to find food, re-group, and come up with a new plan. We re-grouped here;

Photobucket

Such a steak you never did eat before! So tender, so juicy, so LARGE!

Three hours later, the queues to get into the Aquarium had mysteriously vanished, so we thought we’d try our luck!

We saw Dory

Photobucket

and Marlin

Photobucket

and Pony-Boy

Photobucket

and Bruce’s cousins …

Photobucket

And a MERMAID!

Photobucket

*cough* I mean, Dugong of course!

Photobucket

Such an amazing day! We had so much fun! We’ll definitely be going back!

Now don’t forget the Raffle to raise money for the QLD flood relief is still going but ends next Monday, 24th, at 9am. If you have yet to enter Just head to this post and follow the directions. The clean up efforts are just monumental, and every little bit helps.
