Mud Masters

Last week involved a lot of things that didn’t photograph well. But the on the weekend Himself took part in Mud Masters.

Basically it was a 6km (or 12km) obstacle course through mud. Made all the more entertaining because the day dawned in Amsterdam 12C and raining.

But there were thousands of people participating, and all the people who were in the preceding waves and had completed the run were smiling. It was just hard to miss that they were all wrapped in silver hypothermia blankets too …

Himself completed the course in just over an hour, which, given the conditions was remarkably good! I was grateful that by the time he finished the sun briefly shone to assist in warming him up a bit!

You did have the option of having all the excess mud hosed off you at the end via fire hose though if you wished …

After all that excitement we took Sunday at a very relaxed pace, and after ambling our way around the local park, Him on his roller blades, and me on my scooter, we sat down in a local cafe for some refreshments.

A wonderful weekend was had by all!

What did you get up to?

  1. In those temperatures and conditions, I’d rather stay at home and read your blog post about these events πŸ˜‰ Yay and good for you two, going out there and having the adventures. and thank you for posting about it.

Will you be running next time around, too?

    1. I thought about running this time around, though, too late to apply or train for it 😦

I don’t think I’d have a problem with the 6km course; it was the tales of waiting half an hour in 12C chest height water for your turn on the obstacle which makes me happier being the team cheerleader πŸ˜‰

Having said that, I still need to get in shape!

  2. Definitely not for the faint of heart, by the sounds of it. Maybe they have a zombie run instead? I’ve heard about those and they sound like much more fun than waiting in chest-high water…

Good luck getting into the swing of running! In the meantime, you still biking?

    1. I’m done in by my shins though. I can’t run (as such). But you’re right, the zombie runs do look like fun. there’s an app for that you know πŸ˜‰ (RunZombieRun)

I would be biking if Himself didn’t nick off with the bike to get to work everyday πŸ˜‰ I need to buy my own!

    1. I think it would have been better if Himself hadn’t caught and brought home a tummy bug from wading around in chest high water for an hour! πŸ˜‰

      Overall though an awesome weekend!
